Professional Italian olive oil school
We have several olive oil schools and tours in the Mediterranean region, one in the Marche region of the east of Italy, one in Sicily and our main school in Malta. We also have an associate who offers a course for the general public in the south of Spain.
This first school which included, talks, workshops and hands on experience is held in the Marche region, this region has a long Adriatic coastline to the east the the Apennine mountains to the west, the regional capital being Ancona.
First day of the six day course is arrival and check in at an agriturismo near Montalto delle Marche and then dinner at the farm.
Second day breakfast at the farm and then we travel to visit an olive oil producer and groves in Castignano followed by lunch at the Agritourism Case Rosse in Ascoli Piceno. In the afternoon there will be a lecture and workshop on stuffed and pickled olives of the variety Oliva Tenera Ascolana, we then travel back to Montalto for dinner at the agriturismo.
Third day starts with breakfast and we then travel to Petritoli to an olive oil producer where we have a lecture and workshop on different techniques of processing local olives to make extra virgin olive oil, followed by lunch at the Azienda Agricola Foligni e Amurri. Travel to Fermo and a visit to the ancient Roman Baths and dinner at Bar a Vino, in the Piazza del Popolo in Fermo.
Day four starts with breakfast and we check out of the agriturismo and travel to the olive farm and producer near Fermo where we have a lecture and workshop on current technology used in olive oil production and a workshop on machinery used for olive oil harvesting. In the afternoon we travel to Urbino, then check in at the Hotel Urbino and have a free afternoon. In the evening dinner at the restaurant El Mascaron in Fermignano.
Fifth day. Breakfast at the Hotel and then we visit one of the most well known Marche olive oil producers in Cartoceto. Lecture and workshop on olive harvesting and also hands on olive tree pruning (subject to the period of the year) Lunch at the oil mill and in the afternoon we continue with lectures at the mill. In the evening there is dinner at the restaurant El Mascaron in Fermignano.
Day six. Breakfast at the Hotel and then travel to the olive oil mill in Cartoceto, we then visit other oil mills in that area and also attend a workshop on the production of Carotceto DOP olive oil. Lunch at the oil mill and then in the afternoon we visit to the Pieralisi factory, the International leader in olive oil production machinery and logistics. We return to Fermignano where we have dinner at the El Mascaron Restaurant and presentation of course certificates to participants at the course.
Day seven we have breakfast, discuss how the group found the course and visits, then travel to the airport.
